Erik ten Hag has decide not to start Harry Amass for Manchester United in the Community Shield against Manchester City as he prefers to play with a senior player.
“I think we have a fairly high level of seniority. At first I thought that was the idea. We had a plan for how to deal with it and I think it worked out,” Ten Hag said.
“I think all the full-backs, even if they’re not all natural full-backs, like Licha (Lisandro), he’s done well at full-back, Diogo is a full-back and Facundo is doing well at full-back. We’re happy with these performances.”
“You need depth in your squad, you need ยูฟ่าเบท https://ufabet999.app players. Who can play in multiple positions, and in emergencies you need options to choose players to play in different positions.”
“They (Martinez and Pellistri) both have the ability. That’s not their best position, but maybe it’s the best position for the team.”
Manchester United were without a single defender for Saturday’s game,
with Facundo Pellistri coming on as a substitute at Harry Amas right-back before a mistake allowed Bernardo Silva to equalise in the 89th minute.
Amas has started all three of United’s pre-season friendlies and was expected to make his debut against Man City, but was left out despite travelling with the squad.
